Kent repositories and Digital Object Identifiers
Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) accurately identify, link to and discriminate between online works. DOIs are unique to the work they identify and provide a permanent, stable, long-term URL. DOIs are useful for referring to your work in all forms of communication and dissemination about your research and help with accurate acknowledgement, citation and measuring impact.
DOIs can be applied to works in the Kent Academic Repository and the Kent Data Repository. These must be University of Kent outputs that are not published elsewhere. DOIs are:
- Created upon request for research reports, technical reports, project reports, manuals, working papers or discussion papers
- Created automatically for theses and data.
How to apply
To apply email researchsupport@kent.ac.uk and provide a link to the repository item that needs a DOI.
Diamond and free Open Access publishing elsewhere
Journals
Use the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) to identify quality journals where you can publish Open Access without needing to pay an Article Processing Charge or any fees. The entry for the journal in the directory will state "no charge". Alternatively, search DOAJ by subject or publisher, and apply the "without article processing charges" filter.
Books and book chapters
