In your second year there are many opportunities that await you. It's the perfect time to start looking into ways you can make the most of your time at University before your final graduate year.
Here is a breakdown of what you could do to make the most of your second year.
September
Autumn Term: Welcome Back!
Get ready for another year of becoming more employable! :
- Check out the Uni Kent Careers Hub for Careers focused events and work experience opportunities.
- Start collecting Employability Points. This could lead to a summer internship and rewards.
Develop your employability with extra curricular activities!
- Build your skills with Study Plus
- Get involved in societies, sports, volunteering and Kent Union activities
- Browse our Kent Extra pages.
- Don't forget to log EP points for extra curricular activities including part-time work and volunteering.
Consider Part Time Work
If you are considering part time work to support yourself while you study and to start building your CV check out:

Research your career options and have a 1-2-1 Careers appointment
- Research your career options and begin action planning.
- Update your CV and practice filling in applications.

EmpFest
You don't want to miss our employability festival!
This will feature sessions and workshops run by careers staff and employers from various sectors.
This is a fantastic time to start considering sectors that interest you and to build your network.

Spring Careers Fair
The Spring Careers fair runs during the second term of the academic year. This is a great place to network with employers and ask questions about different industries. There may be placement or internship opportunities open to you.

EP Points Deadline
Make sure you log all your employability points before the deadline. The more points you have the more access you have to employability opportunities, including summer placements!
