Communication channels and key systems

The main way we will contact you is through your University student email (Outlook). Check your University email regularly and respond promptly when action is required so that you do not miss important information, deadlines or opportunities.

You are also responsible for keeping your contact details up to date, including your term-time address, personal email address and emergency contact details. We will share information through the My Kent Weekly email, the Student News pages and the My Kent website, so make a habit of checking these channels too.

As a Kent student, we expect you to take an active role in your studies and our University community. This means attending and engaging with your teaching, completing assessments and other academic activities on time, responding to communications from the University, seeking help when you need it, and treating fellow students and staff with respect.

Our Student Charter sets out what you can expect from the University and Kent Students’ Union, as well as what we expect from you. The Student Expectations document provides more detailed guidance on the actions you should take to succeed in your studies, develop as an independent learner and contribute positively to the Kent community.
