Starting your placement

Here are the steps to take and things to remember when starting your placement year.

1. Ensure you get a good induction and return your induction checklist

When you start your placement your employer must give you good induction and ensure you are aware of any policies and procedures. We will provide you with an induction checklist so ensure your employer has covered everything on there and then return to us at placements@kent.ac.uk

2. Keep in touch

We will send you monthly check ins to report back that things are going well, make sure you send these back! if you do not respond we will think there is something wrong! We will also meet with you virtually at the 3 month and 6 month point of your placement.

3. Ensure you re-enroll

While you are on placement you will maintain your student status and like your previous year you will need to re-enroll ready for your return to campus.

4. Remember we are here to help!

If you have any questions or concerns while you are on placement, please contact your departmental placements team and they will be able to support you or signpost you to the right department.

5. Keep on top of your placement assessment requirements

Your placement year comes with a form of assessment. You would have been briefed on this assessment prior to going out on placement but we are still her to support you if you need it. Even if you’re assessment does not require you to diarise your experience you may find this useful for personal reflection later on.
