The Graduate and Researcher College’s Mentoring Scheme is intended to support the personal development of Postgraduates and Early Career Researchers. Mentors, usually of a more experienced level or further ahead with their studies, are paired with a mentee. Through sharing their own knowledge, experience and expertise, mentors enhance the perspective of mentees and expose mentees to new opportunities.
For mentees, working with a mentor is a great way to foster support, develop connections and to realise your goals. For mentors, supporting a mentee provides the opportunity to learn new skills, contribute to the growth of the mentee and ‘give back’ by sharing your experience. The scheme is designed to benefit both mentor and mentee and enables both to diversify their experience throughout their studies.

I found it really useful, especially trying out the different frameworks and tools shared in the training session. I built a good relationship with my mentee which has continued following the scheme.
