National Student Survey

The National Student Survey (NSS) gives you the opportunity to share your experiences of your time here at Kent – both what you liked and what you think could be improved.

NSS 2025 will open on 27 January

Your feedback, including what you have (or haven't) liked about studying at Kent, is vitally important to the University and Kent Students' Union, so we can continue to provide more of what you want and work on where we can improve.

What is the NSS?

The NSS is the largest UK wide annual survey aimed at final year undergraduates in the UK.

The survey is anonymous and will help us understand what you think about studying here so we can improve our student experience at Kent.

The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete. However, we do recommend you take the time to consider your answers and reflect on your whole experience at Kent. The NSS is an influential survey and one of the best ways to get your voice heard and make a change at Kent.

Am I eligible?

In most cases, final year undergraduates are eligible to take the National Student Survey. Apprenticeship students may also be eligible to complete the NSS.

If you are eligible, you will receive an email from Ipsos during the week starting 27 January 2025.

Why should I take part?

  • The NSS provides you with the opportunity to provide honest feedback on your student experience
  • Your opinions will be used to improve the student experience at the University of Kent
  • The feedback you submit is taken very seriously and informs the quality assurance system with regards to teaching quality
  • Results are published and used by prospective students, their families and advisors to make decisions on what and where to study through course comparison websites like Discover Uni

More information about the NSS is available on the OfS website.

What is the Sexual Misconduct Pilot Survey?

The pilot Sexual Misconduct Survey will also be shared with students who complete the 2025 NSS. The survey is completely confidential and students can choose not to complete it. It is separate from the NSS. The Sexual Misconduct Survey seeks to build a national picture of the incidence of sexual misconduct experienced by students and help universities develop tools to tackle this serious issue.
