Business and Management Student, Kai Wamala, worked alongside ‘Events Meets World’ a business in the events and hospitality space, looking to expand. Kai was challenged to write a B2B Business generation plan, to help the owner to grow the business. This included input on social media, branding, sales, copywriting, digital marketing, storytelling and lead generation – a far-ranging brief!
Feedback from the employer
The Student Impact with Kai has been very rewarding for both myself as a business and the student Kai.
It was amazing to connect and get the perspective from a young fresh mind. I also got to invite Kai to a networking event and business pitching event where we were showcasing.
I would definitely recommend the Student Impact project to businesses and would love to know how I can get more involved with working with students and providing opportunities and access.
Student view of the project
The project has been a valuable experience especially for someone aspiring to own a business in the future. Working with a business in its early stages has given me firsthand insight into the challenges entrepreneurs face from acquiring clients to managing operations and positioning a brand in a competitive market.
I have developed a stronger problem-solving and strategic mindset, learning how to identify weaknesses and propose actionable solutions. The project has also enhanced my understanding of B2B sales and marketing through techniques such as networking, social media, and cold calling.
Attending a business pitching event was another highlight as it allowed me to engage with industry professionals, network, and gain valuable insights into how businesses present themselves for investment and partnerships. This exposure was very useful in understanding the realities of business and the importance of strategic positioning. Overall, this project has helped me develop a more entrepreneurial mindset, applying real-world business concepts like competitor analysis, customer acquisition, and business development strategies. I am grateful for this opportunity from the university and thankful to Adedapo for ensuring this project provided me with meaningful and practical learning experiences
