Explore exciting opportunities within the Library & IT department at the University of Kent! 

Whether its placements, internships, paid roles or volunteering - we offer a diverse range of opportunities to help you develop valuable and transferable skills. Work with our dynamic teams to gain hands-on experience, collaborate with experts, and contribute to innovative projects that shape the future of our information services. 

Work Placements

If you are seeking an interesting and relevant work experience placement to gain valuable experience in the world of work, we offer several work experience placements each year to school students in years 12 and 13.  

Placements are available between February and July each year, and are usually one week long. 

What to expect

Working alongside our teams, you’ll have the opportunity to acquire skills, knowledge, and hands-on experience within the Library and IT sector.

You will be assigned a mentor for the week who will be available to support you with any queries you have and act as a point of contact. 

At the end of your placement, you’ll have an opportunity to feedback to your mentor on your work experience placement.

Student Shapers programme

The Student Shapers Programme is a flexible co-curricular initiative that empowers students to collaborate on projects focused on enhancing their campus spaces (study and recreational) and improving our Library and IT services and support. 

As co-creators, students will drive improvements that directly impact their campus experience
