Improving the International Student Experience
Our International Student Advisory Board works in collaboration with Kent Union to ensure that the needs and voices of our international students are heard.

This is a wonderful opportunity for you to join this newly established International Student Advisory Board and to represent and make a difference to your student experience while at Kent. In return for your commitment and contributions you will:

To become a member of the Board, there is an open round of applications followed by a short interview. Applications are now closed for 2024/25. They will re-open in September for the next academic year.
The Board has a student membership of up to 35 including representatives from Foundation, Undergraduate, Postgraduate Taught and Research, and from a range of nationalities to ensure a fair representation across the university's demographic.
Yes, there will be a range of training provided including how to chair a meeting, negotiating skills, public speaking, event management, and setting goals.
There will be a minimum of two meetings each term, plus relevant training. Each meeting will be 2 hours and are currently planned for 13 November 5-7pm (Induction); 28 November 4-6pm (Meeting 1); 28 January 4-6pm (Meeting 2); 20 March 4-6pm (Meeting 3); 14 May 12-2pm (Meeting 4).
Duties will include participating in discussions during meetings, completing feedback surveys, negotiating with colleagues / teams from across the university and Kent Union who provide services to international students as well as produce awareness campaigns if required.
