Step 1: Complete module

Your ChatGPT Edu account should be activated within 24 hours of completing the training.

A detailed step-by-step guide

Before activating your ChatGPT Edu account, you must complete the first four sections of the Developing your AI Literacy Moodle module.

  • Go to the Developing your AI Literacy moodle module.
  • Complete the first four sections.
  • Your completion is recorded automatically once you've finished.

Once you've completed the required module, it takes up to 24 hours for your new ChatGPT Edu account to be created.

  • After 24 hours, check your Kent email for your ChatGPT Edu invitation to activate it.
  • If you can't find the email, check your spam or junk folder.
  • Contact AITeam@kent.ac.uk if after 24 hours you cannot find the invitation.

Once your account is ready, you can sign in to ChatGPT Edu using your Kent credentials.

  • Go to https://chatgpt.com
  • Select Log in.
  • Enter your Kent email address (for example, abc123@kent.ac.uk).
  • When prompted, select University of Kent as your sign-in provider.
  • Sign in using your Kent username and password.*

*If you have more than one University IT account (for example, if you're a KMMS student), make sure you use your Kent login to access ChatGPT Edu.

Important things to remember

When using ChatGPT Edu, please remember:

  • Log out when using a public or shared device. You won't be signed out automatically, so always log out when you've finished using ChatGPT Edu.
  • Use your University-affiliated ChatGPT Edu account for University-related work. This ensures you benefit from the University's enterprise licence and security settings.
  • Don't enter personal or sensitive information into ChatGPT Edu. Avoid sharing personal data or confidential information when using the service.
