Finding your feet: Keeping on top of your studies

A new academic year can mean new routines, teaching styles and deadlines. It may take a little time to find your rhythm, so start with a few manageable steps:

  • Check your timetable
  • Plan your travel
  • Set aside a regular time to study

When coursework feels like a lot, check your course information, note key dates and break bigger assignments into smaller tasks. Your Academic Adviser can help you understand what’s expected and talk through your progress.

Kent’s Skills for Academic Success (SAS) team offers appointments, workshops and study resources on planning assignments, academic writing, time management, revision and exams.

If you have a course-related question, your School’s support team can help. For questions about university processes, accommodation, IT or other services, contact or visit Nexus.

You don’t have to get everything organised at once. Choose a first step that feels useful, then take it from there.
