Student Funding
The Kent Career Fund exists to support students with up to £150 for travel or accommodation for unpaid work experience, travel to an interview, employment-related activities, or training.
Staff Funding
The Kent Career Fund has limited funding to support staff who wish to organise an extra-curricular trip which will contribute to the employability of students at the University of Kent. The funding may be used towards travel and/or entrance fees.
Student Funding
Am I eligible?
In addition to the terms and conditions, you must:
- Be a student of the University of Kent, studying in the UK.
- Be finishing the experience before the month you are due to graduate* (e.g. June, if you are due to graduate in July).
- Be undertaking:
- unpaid work which is extra-curricular and not credit-bearing (i.e. not a placement year)
- a training/networking event that will support your employability
- attendance at an interview where expenses are not covered.
Please note, you must not be
receiving any other form of payment for undertaking the experience e.g. a wage.
*You will not
be able to claim for reimbursement after you have graduated, and you must submit
all claims for reimbursement one month before you are due to
graduate, at the latest.

FAQs
No, unfortunately you cannot apply retrospectively for experiences which have already taken place.
You may be able to claim for volunteering expenses, however, the voluntary experience must be graduate level work.
You may only claim expenses for the first 3 weeks (or 120 hours) of the duration of your voluntary position. You can also record your volunteering hours through the Employability Points Scheme.
The work experience undertaken should lead to the development of skills that supports your employability and future career. Tasks and responsibilities should mimic graduate level work. This, for example, does not include making tea and photocopying.
